Northwest Horn Symposium 2017
University of Idaho, Lionel Hampton School of Music, Moscow, Idaho
March 31 - April 2, 2017
Host: Jason Johnston
Host: Jason Johnston
Another great symposium in the books! Jason Johnston hosted a fantastic symposium on March 31 – April 2, 2017 at the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music! Participants had the opportunity to listen to Denise Tryon and Karl Pituch in a duo recital on Friday night and learn from both during the Audition Mode Masterclasses. Jeff Snedeker and Tom Varner put on a great concert focused on jazz horn and Tom presented a lecture about improvisation. Other sessions included talks about promoting yourself in the 21st century, horn craftsmanship from Felix Cantesanu of Cantesanu Horns, Alexander Technique, becoming a freelance teacher and performer, and electro-acoustic horn music. The Central Washington University Horn Ensemble, The Palouse Horn Club, and the University of Oregon Horn Ensemble performed during the weekend as well as many talented regional artists. We would like to thank and congratulate Jason again for putting on a fantastic symposium!
